David is a leading voice for climate justice. He has campaigned globally for the recognition that we cannot solve climate change without also addressing racial, social and intergenerational justice. David’s TED talk on the need for racial and climate justice efforts to combine was watched live by more than 18 million people at the Global Countdown Summit.

In 2020 David co-founded the Sophia Point Rainforest Project, a charity that aims to transform research, education and conservation of Guyana’s unique rainforests. Sophia Point will be the first of its kind centre in Guyana, South America and will provide the facilities to help empower the next generation of Guyanese to play a role in conserving their rainforest at a critical time.

In the UK David has championed a green and fair recovery that prioritises green jobs, supports the marginalised and advances environmental protections. He has written to the Prime Minister and the Chancellor of the Exchequer, on behalf of his constituents, calling on the government to pursue a green recovery and decarbonise the economy. He is a regular contributor to the Haringey Labour Climate Action newsletter and has met with campaign groups such as Friends of the Earth, WWF UK and others to discuss the impacts of climate change in Haringey.
