A message from David Lammy on mentoring and volunteering opportunities.
I have had an overwhelming response to my article in the New Statesman discussing the difficulties faced by young people, specifically young men, growing up in Britain today.

It is the work of the ordinary people who are willing to do more in their communities which can really help us to solve some of the difficult issues we face.

Many of the emails I've received were from people asking to be put in touch with organisations working with volunteers to provide much needed guidance to the young people of Britain. My office will of course give individual attention to every piece of correspondence received on this topic, but in the meantime, here are some websites for organisations and initiatives where you can find out more about volunteering. Don’t forget that your workplace may allow you paid time off to volunteer...encourage your manager to look at how to establish it in your place of work here.

Best wishes,

David
