Yesterday, David Lammy MP was proud to attend the official Number 10 welcome for Democratic Presidential nominee, Senator Barack Obama.

David said, "It was wonderful to be there at history in the making, joining the Prime Minister Gordon Brown for Barack Obama's first visit to Number 10 as the Democratic candidate for President. I know how popular he is in Tottenham, with so many of my constituents feeling a connection to him because of his roots in the developing world and his message of change.

“As when I've met Barack before, he exuded an easy charm – while equally keen to talk seriously about challenges like climate change, global economics and security that face all of us. His visit to London showed how deep the connection between our two great countries has become and I hope that one day he'll be able to spare the time to visit Tottenham."
