This week David Lammy, Member of Parliament for Tottenham has welcomed the Royal Bank of Scotland’s recent announcement that they are to install 300 non-fee charging cash machines in some of Britain’s most deprived areas.
David Lammy commented:
“This announcement from RBS offers the opportunity for thousands of people across the country, and especially in Tottenham to have access to their money without having to pay almost two pounds a time to make even a small withdrawal.”
The Royal Bank of Scotland has identified areas across the country where people do not currently have access to their money without paying a fee – one of these areas is White Hart Lane in Tottenham.
David continued:
“I am now calling on residents in White Hart Lane to contact me with locations they think could benefit from one of these non-fee charging cash machines. I then intend to take these suggested locations to RBS to make sure that we in Tottenham have a chance of receiving one of these new machines.”
David Lammy has also recently been putting pressure on Tottenham’s bank branches to offer a better level of service.
David added:
“Unlike many other areas of London, many of Tottenham’s banks do not open on Saturdays, and as most residents know, the queues on many days can be out of the door. Alongside Councillor John Bevan I have long been campaigning for a better level of service. I hope that this initiative means that banks are at last waking up to the needs of local people.”
