On 11 May 2018, I held a Windrush surgery at the Holy Trinity Church in Tottenham for my constituents who have been affected by the Windrush scandal. More than 20 constituents participated in the event which was attended by an Immigration Law specialist from Wilsons LLP- a Tottenham law firm that is offering pro-bono legal advice to my constituents.

Representatives from the Home Office were also in attendance, answering constituents’ questions on how the Home Office is handling the Windrush-type cases and what the next steps will be. The purpose of the event was primarily to allow those who have been impacted by the scandal to have their questions answered, as well as to access specialist legal advice on how they can confirm their citizenship and get compensation. I will continue to support my constituents and all Windrush citizens as they regularise their immigration status and campaign for compensation from the Home Office.
