Premier League Real Living Wage campaign
On Thursday 6th December, alongside 13 other Labour MP's, I wrote to the Premier League's chief executive Richard Scudamore urging him to ensure that every Premier League club pays all of their workers the Real Living Wage. I strongly believe that all Premier League clubs should pay their employees fairly, including agency and temporary workers. You can read more about the campaign here.
In the letter we said:
"Despite the record sums of money being generated by the Premier League, as well as the generous wages this has enabled clubs to pay their players, a large proportion of those match day jobs pay low wages, which fall below the level of the voluntary Living Wage of £10.20 an hour in London… Given the Premier League managed to secure a voluntary commitment two years ago, which ensured full-time workers directly employed by each club would be paid the Living Wage, we are writing to ask whether similar efforts could go into extending this commitment to all workers."
