Our moral responsibility to the world's poorest girls
On 21st November, to mark the publication of a report into global education by the International Development Select Committee, I wrote a joint article for The Times with Conservative MP Pauline Latham: Helping the world's poorest girls go to school is a moral imperative for Britain.
I called for the Department for International Development to increase the funding that it gives to education around the world through our aid to developing countries and called on the new International Development Secretary Penny Mordaunt to make this her priority in the job, particularly through the Global Partnership for Education.
