On 25th July I wrote to the chair of the Grenfell Tower public inquiry, Sir Martin Moore-Bick, regarding the public inquiry into Grenfell Tower. I also submitted this letter as my response to the consultation on the inquiry, which closes on 4th August.
I have called for a two-stage public inquiry, the first stage of which will look at the specific causes and circumstances leading up to the Grenfell Tower fire, to be followed by a second stage to consider the implications of Grenfell Tower on government policy, social housing and housing regulations on a national scale.
I have also called for Sir Martin Moore-Bick to appoint an advisory panel drawn from the community and representatives of the representatives of Grenfell Tower victims, families and survivors in order to boost confidence and trust in the inquiry.
