Budget speech

Last night (8th March) I spoke in the debate on the Chancellor's Budget.

I argued that the Budget had let the country down because it ignored the main economic issue of our time - the impact that Brexit and leaving the Single Market will have on every aspect of our economy: growth, trade, jobs, wages, investment, inflation and our public finances.

I also spoke about the need for the Government to commit to a strategy for investment in adult education to plug skills gap and enable people across the country to re-skill and retrain: "We do not need a fund of a few million pounds; we need a rescue package to bring back night schools and bring back adult education".
