On Friday 13th January I secured an adjournment debate on the future of adult education and Night Schools in the House of Commons. I called on the government to bring back night schools, invest in adult education and publish a long overdue strategy for improving the provision of adult education in this country.
I was very proud to raise this important issue as I feel very strongly that adult education has been ignored by Westminster and Whitehall for too long - since 2010 the House of Commons has debated education hundreds of times yet not one debate has been dedicated to adult education. At the same time, this Government has cut adult education funding by 40% and focused entirely on university education and apprenticeships for young people.
