Patchwork Foundation Labour MP of the year 2016

On Wednesday evening (2nd November) I was so proud and honoured to be awarded Labour MP of the year by the Patchwork Foundation in recognition of my work with underrepresented and minority communities, particularly the independent review of the over-representation of BAME individuals in our criminal justice system that I am undertaking and my campaign for more diversity within the BBC.

I am very humbled to have been nominated and to have won this award, and as I said during my acceptance speech I will continue to do my utmost to speak up for underrepresented minority communities.
