On Monday 10th October I was delighted to attend the opening of a new GP surgery in Tottenham Hale. Special thanks is owed to Haringey CCG, Haringey Council, Healthwatch Haringey, NHS England and Lee Valley Estates for their role in making this possible.
There is a huge shortage of primary care in Tottenham and this is an issue that I have campaigned on for many years. In December 2015 I secured an adjournment debate in the House of Commons to call on the Government to take action to address the shortage of primary care in Tottenham, in March of this year I met with the then Health Minister Alistair Burt MP and NHS England to discuss how they plan to tackle the shortfall of GP surgeries in the area.
It was fantastic to have the opportunity to thank meet everyone who has worked so hard to deliver this new surgery, which will be run by Lawrence House Surgery, a local Tottenham practice already running a number of GP services.
Going forward I will continue to call for the funding and resources needed to deliver increased and improved primary care for Tottenham.
