On Saturday 8th October I was delighted to speak at the launch of National Hate Crime Awareness Week at an event organised by Tell Mama at St Paul's Cathedral.
Any hate crime is absolutely intolerable and unacceptable and I am extremely concerned to have seen a spike in reported hate crime following the EU referendum.
As I said during my speech, I fear that Great Britain is becoming little England, and that people seem to have forgotten that Jo Cox MP was killed in the name of hate only a few months ago. In the face of hatred and prejudice it is more important than ever to stand together and unite against hate crime.
Next month I will be hosting a panel event in Parliament: Post-Brexit hate crime: What next for Government the police and communities, and will announce further details in due course.
