On Friday 17th June I was invited along to Seven Sisters Primary School in Tottenham for the grand opening of their new playground, where I was also joined by nursery and Key Stage One pupils, as well as a few of their parents.
I was welcomed into the school by the children singing and cheering, awaiting my arrival and anticipating the opening of their new playground. Following a speech praising the school, I sat alongside the pupils and teachers as we counted down and released balloons into the air (see picture below).
Having visited this school a few years ago, I was amazed by the changes made. As of its OFSTED inspection in 2013, the school was ranked as requiring improvements. However, I was delighted to see this rating upgraded in 2016 to good. Having walked around the school and seeing the positive changes that were taking place, it became quite apparent that this rating reflects the quality and ethos of the school.
Seven Sisters Primary School is just an example of the many positive changes that are taking place in schools with Tottenham, and I look forward to seeing more stories about the growing success of our pupils.
