Yesterday (Monday 30th January) the House of Commons urgently debated the Government's reaction to Donald Trump's Executive Order which bans people from seven countries from entering the United Stats of America. I asked the Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson: "In November 1938, the then Conservative Government prepared a Bill that led to the Kindertransport that transported Jewish refugee children to this country. Does the Secretary of State not realise that in making his statem
On Tuesday 24th January the Supreme Court ruled that the Government must seek the approval of Parliament before triggering Article 50 and beginning the Brexit process. I released the following statement: "It was absolutely absurd for an unelected Prime Minister and her Cabinet to think that they had the power to trigger to trigger Article 50 without even consulting our sovereign Parliament. The Government alone cannot interpret what the referendum result means and where we go

Ahead of my debate on night schools and adult education I wrote articles for the London Evening Standard (A new approach to adult education will help Londoners succeed) and The Times (Night schools can give those 'left behind'a leg up). The debate was also covered by The Independent and FE Week.
On Friday 13th January I secured an adjournment debate on the future of adult education and Night Schools in the House of Commons. I was very proud to raise this important issue as I feel very strongly that adult education has been ignored by Westminster and Whitehall for too long - since 2010 the
