I would like to send my best wishes to everyone celebrating Newroz this year and wish them all the best for 2009.
I am proud of the passion, effort and creativity that will culminate in this year’s Newroz celebrations, and my congratulations go to the people whose continued hard work has made it all possible. Over the past few years, we have seen some of the most impressive and vibrant displays in London, and I am sure that they will only be improved upon in 2009. I feel a great deal of pride from representing Tottenham, home to one of the largest Kurdish communities in the UK, especially at this time of year. These Newroz events are an ideal opportunity to showcase the talents and hard work of the community across Britain. I am also particularly honoured, this year, to be hosting an event in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 24th March. Let me once again wish you all a Happy Newroz 2009. Rt Hon. David Lammy MP
