London Election's Podcast: The price of apathy - why we must all vote on 1st May.
Tuesday, 22 April 2008

With only days to go until voters go to the polls in this years local elections, David Lammy talks about the dangers of the far right winning seats across Britain. He explores the picture across the country, before focusing on London, where the possibility of a low turnout could give the BNP their first seats on the Greater London Assembly.

He reiterates Britain’s proud history of championing diversity and tolerance, while at the same time acknowledging that people are concerned about some of the forces shaping modern Britain. But rather than people turning to the far right for answers, he urges voters to support serious politicians that have the policies to tackle climate change; make our streets safer; renew our inner cities and invest in affordable housing.
