On Sunday 10th July, David Lammy MP took part in the British 10k London Run. He was part of a team running to raise money for the charity Sunseed Tanzania, who works with poor rural communities in the Dodoma region of Tanzania to improve the quality of their lives and their environment. After finishing the race in one hour and four minutes, David said: “I am very pleased to be supporting Sunseed Tanzania today. I have been training hard, and greatly enjoyed running with the team in the knowledge that the money we raise is going to such a good cause.”
Sunseed introduces fuel efficient Rocket mud stoves into homes. The stoves are made from locally available building materials, and consume less than half the firewood than the traditional three stone fire. They reduce deforestation by saving fuel wood, and reduce eye and respiratory problems by removing smoke from homes. Sunseed have recently introduced larger energy efficient stoves into local schools, ensuring children receive at least one hot meal per day.
