Haringey to receive £54,000 to tackle anti-social behaviour

Tuesday, 24 November 2009

Last Friday (20th November), the government announced that Haringey will receive £54,000 to help the police, local authority and other partners to tackle anti-social behaviour and keep neighbourhoods safe and confident.

The money will be used to train frontline staff, supporting community led projects to engage young people and offering support to victims of anti-social behaviour.

Haringey will also benefit from a series of measures designed to improve delivery by front line staff and community activists.  Measures are being made to make residents aware of their rights and how best to report anti-social behaviour, along with extra training for frontline staff and additional housing expertise being made available to social landlords.

David Lammy, the Labour MP for Tottenham, said “The drive to tackle anti-social behaviour  and crime over the last decade has  made a huge impact in Tottenham , but now is the time to  really tackle the small minority  that still sometimes make our streets, estates and public places unpleasant for local people.”

“The £54,000 will bring together support agencies, the police and Haringey residents to tackle anti-social behaviour together, and will make a significant difference to our borough.”
