The Haringey TUC has urged its Tottenham membership to vote for David Lammy, the Labour candidate, after considering his and his fellow candidates answers to the TUC questionnaire.
David said “It is crucial to have the support of the Haringey TUC when standing for re-election. I will be re-assuring Trade Union members and non-Trade Union members that if re-elected, I will be fighting against savage cuts to our public services.”
Asked if he supported a Living Wage, David noted that although the National Minimum Wage has been revolutionary in raising the pay levels of 2 million workers, the current level was still not enough for workers based in Tottenham. David vowed to fight for a legally enforceable London Living Wage, which he believes will do much to lift people out of poverty.

Haringey TUC Chair, Keith Flett, said “David Lammy’s answers will be read with interest by the thousands of Haringey trade unionists who the TUC represents locally as they go to vote on May 6th”.
The TUC Press Release also notes that it received response from all of the major parties, with the exception of the Liberal Democrats. Haringey TUC noted “given anti-union comments by leading Lib Dems during the campaign this was perhaps not surprising, if regrettable.”
