Government Minister David Lammy visited the Coombes Croft library to see the latest developments in its transformation.

The library in Tottenham High Road is being extended and improved thanks to more than £1m from the Big Lottery Fund.

David Lammy, Member of Parliament for Tottenham, said:

"The library, when re-opened, will provide a fantastic community resource for the people in the North of my constituency. This is another example of the government's commitment to investing in community resources and the development of young people."

Cllr Dhiren Basu, cabinet member for leisure, culture and lifelong learning, said:

"The library is being transformed thanks to the Big Lottery Fund which will provide more space and facilities at the library – including a meeting room for community groups and areas specifically for young people."

As part of the work, the front of the library is being rebuilt and an extension is being built at the back.

A glass viewing panel is also being built into the pavement so that pedestrians can see a brook which has been uncovered outside the front of the building.
