"THERE was fashion, food and festival fever at Lordship Recreation Ground as more than 4,000 revellers flocked to the park.

The crowds poured into the site off Lordship Lane, Tottenham, on Saturday to enjoy a jam-packed schedule of fun and games before a massive £6million makeover begins next year.

Dave Morris, of the Friends of Lordship Rec, said: "The breathtaking array of activities demonstrated what's great about our local communities and the potential of our green spaces."

A 1km fun run, freestyle skateboarding contest and bike races entertained the more energetic visitors while a dog show, pony rides and a travelling city farm were popular features for kids.

David Lammy, MP for Tottenham, presented awards for home-grown produce, even bagging himself some prize-winning honey from honey-maker Raina von Ahn.

Cups were handed out to winners of anything from the longest runner bean to the most delicious Victoria sponge cake.

He said: "The festival's success is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved and the deep commitment we all share to see this park restored to its former glory. Presenting the awards was a fantastic experience and shows how committed we are as a community in Tottenham to the environment and sustainability."

The Wards Corner Community Coalition set up a stall urging people to help save the building in Seven Sisters from being knocked down.

The group raised £846 to go towards lawyers' fees in their ongoing battle to stop Haringey Council's plans.

Fashion designers Collage also injected some glamour with a catwalk show of gorgeous creations put together by residents in nearby Broadwater Farm during summer workshops."
