Barack Obama and the Nobel Peace Prize

Wednesday, 14 October 2009

Last Saturday, David put together an article in the Daily Mirror on the reasoning behind the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to President Barack Obama.

It can be found at the Mirror website here.

Barack has captured the world's attention.

From the moment he began his presidential campaign, he insisted there's a different way of doing foreign policy.

Talking, listening and engaging, even with your enemies, rather than posturing and aggression. He's given the world hope for a better future.

By reaching out to the Arab world, after years of mutual hostility, he's done more for peace in eight months than the last guy did in eight years.

His attempts to restart talks between Israelis and Palestinians show he's serious.

But knowing Barack, he'll be more concerned with what he actually achieves than with any awards.
