David Lammy has been a North London Member of Parliament since 2000. As well as being a local representative for Tottenham, being a Minister, a born and bred Londoner, and a leading Black politician means he often has a London wide outlook.

"London is a city I am proud to call my home. It was where I was born, brought up, went to primary school and university and now somewhere I am honoured to represent. For me, it has always been a city of contrasts - on the one hand fascinatingly historic and on the other a youthful global leader in music, arts and design.

“Home to the most diverse residents on the planet, it is always ready to inspire, challenge and surprise in equal measure. The confidence of Londoners, especially during adversity makes us well placed to face the new challenges of the 21st Century. Whether it is in boosting our skills; tackling climate change; supporting our diversity; making the streets safer or improving housing, education and public transport. I passionately want to play a part in keeping this city the world beating capital it is today.”
David Lammy MP for Tottenham and Minister for Higher Education and Intellectual Property.
